A couple of snakes/unas culebras

I have been finding a lot of snakes lately, unfortunately most of them dead already. I would love to get some nice pictures of these live because they are really beautiful.

Great Wall Chinese Food

I told you about The Great Wall in Bloomington, Illinois. Well, at risk of getting off my Nicaraguan blog theme, I just had to show you a bit of this grub. General Tsos Chicken's in the house...and so is pepper steak. Chandler was chowing down....

Chinese food in Granada/Comida china en Granada

Welcome to the Yon Niy Ta Chinese restaurant in Granada.  'twasn't bad food but definitely not even in the same league as say...The Great Wall in Bloomington, Illinois.  That is some good Chinese food.  But, we are in Granada so, being objective, it's an ok alternative to the food fare in town.  It's cheap - the chop suey cost about $C80 ($4.00) and the shrimp cost $C120 ($6.00).

Bienvenidos al restaurante chino Yon Niy Ta en Granada.  La comida no está mal pero ni se compara a...digamos The Great Wall, en Bloomington, Illinois, EEUU.  Allí se sirve buena comida.  Pero, después de todo, estamos en Granada así que...es una opción decente.  Es barata - el chop suey cuesta  $C80 ($4.00) y los camarones cuestan $C120 ($6.00).

Cashew/Marañon

Sometimes when you learn a new language, you also learn to eat new foods. Did you know that there exists a cashew fruit? In Nicaragua, "marañón" is used to refer to the toasted nut, the fruit itself and it's even a last name. You have probably tried the toasted nuts. Here they are served plain, without salt. They are slightly sweet and delicious. The fruit itself has a sweet, pungent taste (imagine sweet battery acid) and is used to make fruit-juice based drinks.

A veces cuando uno aprende un nuevo idioma, también aprende a probar alimentos nuevos. Aquí está el marañón. El nombre marañón se refiere a la nuez que se come tostada, la fruta misma e incluso es un apellido. Seguro ha comido las nueces tostadas. Aquí se comen simples, sin sal. Están un tantito dulces y deliciosas! La fruta tiene un sabor raro - dulce y amargo (hacéte que es ácido de batería dulce) y se ocupa en hacer frescos naturales.

As the rainy season comes to an end, the gray skies come into effect. No problem for us because they signal cooler weather for the next 2 months. We like it!!!

Ahora que el invierno llega a su fin, los cielos gris dominan el panorama. No hay problema porque señalan un clima más fresco y agradable por los siguientes dos meses.  Nos gusta!!!
